Andreas Schager
Details
In Brief
The tenor, recently awarded the title of Austrian Kammersänger, began his career on operetta stages. After performing in operas by Mozart, Beethoven, and Weber, he has since grown into one of the most significant Wagnerian Heldentenors of our time. Following his portrayal of David in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, he soon took on the title role in Rienzi, followed by Siegmund, Siegfried, Tannhäuser, and Parsifal. In 2016, he also made his Bayreuth debut as Erik in Der fliegende Holländer. International critics praise not only his voice and technique but also his nuanced acting, appreciated by audiences in Milan, London, Tokyo, and New York, as well as across German-speaking opera houses. In addition to the opera stage, he has achieved major success in Beethoven’s and Mahler’s large-scale symphonies and in Schoenberg’s Gurre-Lieder. Andreas Schager's debut at the Budapest Opera House in the fifth season of Stars’ Recitals with Piano promises to be a treat.
