In Brief

In the 2025/26 season, the OPERA will be organizing for the fourth time its truly exclusive concert series Stars' Recitals with Piano, dedicated to songs and arias. The first performer in the program lineup is Maltese-born tenor Joseph Calleja, whose velvety voice has been directly compared to that of Pavarotti and Gigli. The singer has already portrayed, among others, Don José, Cavaradossi, the Duke in Rigoletto, Faust, and Hoffmann, and has appeared in nearly all of the world’s leading opera houses, from New Zealand and Australia through Europe to the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In addition to his stage performances, he boasts numerous opera and concert recordings, as well as eight solo albums. This time, he will delight the Budapest audience with a solo recital accompanied by piano.
