Internationally renowned Erika Miklósa makes a selection of her iconic roles from operas including Die Zauberflöte, Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Pasquale at the gala concert to celebrate her 30th jubilee at the Hungarian State Opera. The Kossuth Prize and Liszt Prize recipient coloratura soprano is joined on stage by leading soloists Ildikó Komlósi, Atala Schöck, Mihály Kálmándy and Boldizsár László to perform popular duets and ensembles. The gala concert entitled Miklósa30 is available online in the Opera Stream series on 27 March 2021, at 8:00 p.m.
Erika Miklósa made her debut at the Erkel Theatre in the role of Papagena in Die Zauberflöte in January 1991 at the tender age of 19, making her the youngest member in the history of the Opera. It is also Mozart's masterpiece in which the Queen of the Night became her most iconic role that she first sang in Mannheim in 1992. It earned her worldwide recognition and after two and a half decades she said farewell to it at another jubilee gala at the Erkel Theatre five years ago.
The soprano, who was chosen to be a member of the Company of Immortals last year, has a wide range of other memorable roles like Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Gilda (Rigoletto), Norina (Don Pasquale), Frasquita (Carmen) and Adele (Die Fledermaus), and she has also sung the title roles of Lakmé and Lucia di Lammermoor. At her gala concert on 27 March 2021, she is to perform excerpts from all these pieces with her favourite colleagues Péter Balczó, Erika Gál, Zsolt Haja, István Horváth, Mihály Kálmándy, Ildikó Komlósi, István Kovács, Ágnes Anna Kun, Boldizsár László, Zoltán Megyesi, Rita Rácz, Csaba Sándor, Atala Schöck, Tibor Szappanos, Csaba Szegedi, János Szerekován and Bernadett Wiedemann. Following restriction measures due to the pandemic, the pieces are accompanied on the piano by Sámuel Csaba Tóth. The gala directed by András Aczél is conducted by Gergely Kesselyák and hosted by general director Szilveszter Ókovács.
