Baritone Michael Volle is one of the world’s leading singers in his fach. As a heldenbariton, he has performed on the major opera stages worldwide, including the Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Met, the Royal Opera House in London, the Opéra National de Paris, as well as at the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals. His most important roles include Wagner parts such as Wotan/Wanderer and Hans Sachs, as well as roles by R. Strauss, Verdi, Puccini, and others. Highlights of the 2026/27 season include concert performances of Siegfried in Rome (conducted by Daniel Harding), as well as concert Ring cycles at New York’s Carnegie Hall and in Paris. He will for example also appear as the Dutchman at the Bavarian State Opera. Alongside his opera engagements, he continues to pursue his passion for concert and song, collaborating with leading orchestras and conductors. His recital programs focus primarily on German art song, delighting audiences with his sensitive interpretations.
His long-standing career is documented in numerous recordings and has been recognized with awards such as the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST and multiple “Singer of the Year” honors by Opernwelt.
