The first phase of the new cultural space, located next to the Opera House at the corner of Révay and Dalszínház Streets, was presented on 25 March 2026, on the anniversary of Béla Bartók’s birth, to selected guests and members of the press. The full project is expected to open to visitors in September 2026.
For the first time, Szabolcs Brickner, Gabriella Létay Kiss, Constantin Trinks, and Gergely Madaras will take part in the Opera House’s festive programme. The series, running from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, will feature Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Wagner’s Parsifal, and Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana at the Ybl Palace on Andrássy Avenue.
Tobias Kratzer’s spectacular production of Fidelio, originally created for London’s Covent Garden in 2020, premieres at the Hungarian State Opera on 18 April 2026. In the double cast of the production, the leading roles are performed by Sinéad Campbell Wallace and Jamez McCorkle, Szilvia Rálik and István Kovácsházi, as well as Krisztián Cser and Károly Szemerédy. The ensembles of the Hungarian State Opera are conducted by principal guest conductor Péter Halász.
