Bánk Bán in Korea too

Bánk Bán in Korea too

We have found a special way to exchange guest performances with an agreement with the Deagu Theatre. The national operas of both nations will be performed in the capital city of the other party, but the local company can take part too, and thus, in addition to cost-efficiency, a genuine and organic cooperation and a deep knowledge of the culture of a remote country can be achieved too. We will go first: the principal musicians of our orchestra and chorus will travel to South Korea to rehearse and lead the ensembles there for ten days, of course with a Hungarian conductor, and then the soloists will arrive too. There will be a concert performance, but we will bring costumes so that the singers can identify with their roles better, and this visual element will have a special importance there, together with the Korean surtitles. We are also preparing background screenings and a short film about Hungary, Budapest and the Opera. What else could this pilot project take to such a remote place than Bánk Bán? This is how this season will be the one, which, in addition to Puccini and Italy, will take Bánk Bán around the world from Budapest to Berehove, New York, Naples and Tegu.
